Launched in 2011, the YMCA Vocational and Soft Skills Programme (VaSSP) has engaged over 700 youths, providing youth-at-risk and out-of-school youth with practical skills and training opportunities that prepare them for future employment. For 6 months, the youth get to choose a vocation, with courses that include baking, barista, culinary, event management, hair dressing and web design. The youth are also supported by social workers who will provide social and emotional guidance.
To commemorate our 10th year anniversary, we are featuring the success stories of 10 youths on YMCA's Facebook and Instagram pages. We hope you can join us in celebrating their achievements and empowering the transformation of more youth by sharing these stories on your social media pages and donating to our cause.
#YouthMadeIt is a part of YMCA Ground-up initiatives. Funds raised will go to the YMCA Community Services Fund that sustains programmes for youth-at-risk, youth with special needs and families in need. Thank you for your kind support and contribution!
About the Charity
*COVID-19 Update: Due to COVID-19, many vulnerable communities face new challenges. Fundraising has also become exceptionally difficult. We would like to make an appeal to all to join us in our efforts in reaching out during these tough times. Your donation will fund new initiatives and existing programmes that support these communities. Please read "Our Programmes" for more information on these programmes.
The YMCA of Singapore stands to champion, challenge and train youth to stand up and be counted as independent and effective contributors to an inclusive society.
Our "YMCA Strong" campaign is a statement of our desired outcome for all we serve - to give our clients a hand up, not simply a handout, so that each one will be strengthened to reach their potential.
Our programmes range from training and employing youth with special needs to mobilising and training youth leaders and volunteers to serve the needy in society.
