YMCA of Singapore will be holding its annual Flag Day on 18 March 2017 to raise funds for the YMCA Community Service Programmes. YMCA Flag Day aims to raise $60,000 for YMCA Silver Fiesta, an event that promotes intergenerational bonding and active-ageing lifestyle amongst the elderly.

Since its inception in 2012, Silver Fiesta is an annual event organised by YMCA of Singapore. The event engages youth volunteers from various schools and institutions in the promotion of intergenerational bonding and active-ageing lifestyle amongst elderly through Arts & Cultural based programmes, including traditional opera performances and handicrafts sessions. Silver Fiesta has enriched the lives of over 2,000 senior citizens with the support of over 1,500 youth volunteers.

About the Charity

YMCA of Singapore is a volunteer-based Christian organisation that seeks to serve and impact all members of the community, regardless of race, language or religion, through programmes, services and enterprises to develop the body, mind and spirit.

YMCA is driven towards developing the heartware for Singapore through its programme and service infrastructure, building a resilient and caring society through sustainable community engagement programmes and nurturing socially responsible community champions. This includes engaging youth in programmes that provide opportunities for them to be attuned to the needs of the community, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to serve with excellence through structured training and development programmes, and providing them with the platforms to step-up and lead their peers and other like-minded youths.

YMCA needs your support to help sustain its programmes to touch lives and lift spirits among the less privileged in the community.
