About Campaignends 31 Dec 2020, 11:59 PM
COVID-19 has disrupted many lives, especially that of our special needs beneficiaries, who have been taken out from their familiar activities. Caregivers face increased duties and stresses, while striving to keep their loved ones meaningfully engaged. To meet these current needs, we have taken two of our programmes (performing and visual arts) online:
Y Arts Challenge - Customised engagement kits are couriered to our beneficiaries, who then engage in art and craft activities with their caregivers. This gives them a platform for creative expression, and to bond with their caregivers. This promotes social interaction as they can meet new friends via zoom sessions.
Y Dance Outreach - Under the guidance of instructors and caregivers, they are taught dance and to use performing arts as a means of expression and communication. This also promotes social interaction as they can meet new friends via zoom sessions. Most importantly, this helps promote physical activity leading to a healthier lifestyle.
Donations above $50 are eligible for 250% tax deduction.
Funds raised will go towards YMCA-Tan Chin Tuan Community Service Programmes.
About the Charity
*COVID-19 Update: Due to COVID-19, many vulnerable communities face new challenges. Fundraising has also become exceptionally difficult. We would like to make an appeal to all to join us in our efforts in reaching out during these tough times. Your donation will fund new initiatives and existing programmes that support these communities. Please read "Our Programmes" for more information on these programmes.
The YMCA of Singapore stands to challenge, champion and train youth to stand up and be counted as independent and effective contributors to an inclusive society.
Our "YMCA Strong" campaign is a statement of our desired outcome for all we serve - to give our clients a hand up, not simply a handout, so that each one will be strengthened to reach their potential.
Our programmes range from training and employing special needs youth to mobilising and training youth leaders and volunteers to serve the needy in society.
