Help Harun conquer Mount Fuji in support of the special needs community!

29-year-old Harun was born with Cerebral Palsy, a disorder that affects muscular control and body movements. The YMCA Strong Ambassador advocates for people with special needs through his active participation in sports, overcoming even the Spartan Race, known to be among the world's most strenuous obstacle courses.
Harun is among the 10 YMCA Special Needs clients embarking on YMCA's first-ever expedition to Mt Fuji under the Y Camp Challenge Inclusive Climb. For the special needs advocate, this journey is not just physical but one of mental fortitude. He wishes to show that people with special needs can go beyond limitations and overcome obstacles if they set their minds to it.

About the Challenge

As part of our mission to overcome limitations and change perceptions, YMCA is sending a team of special needs individuals to conquer Mount Fuji for the first time. Over the next 3 months, we will challenge them to make the impossible, possible as they prepare for the journey up Mount Fuji.
This inaugural expedition to Mount Fuji is part of our Y Camp Challenge initiative -- an outdoor adventure programme that empowers our special needs clients through outdoor activities.
Through this climb, they are able to develop their confidence, overall sociability and are empowered to look beyond their limitations. These skills will eventually help our clients adapt to the society more confidently and comfortably.

About the Charity

YMCA of Singapore is a volunteer-based Christian organisation that seeks to serve and impact all members of the community, regardless of race, language or religion, through programmes, services and enterprises to develop the body, mind and spirit.

YMCA is driven towards developing the heartware for Singapore through its programme and service infrastructure, building a resilient and caring society through sustainable community engagement programmes and nurturing socially responsible community champions. This includes engaging youth in programmes that provide opportunities for them to be attuned to the needs of the community, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to serve with excellence through structured training and development programmes, and providing them with the platforms to step-up and lead their peers and other like-minded youths.

YMCA needs your support to help sustain its programmes to touch lives and lift spirits among the less privileged in the community.
