About Campaign

Launched in October 2004 by the Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-Offenders (CARE) Network, the Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) is a national campaign aimed at educating and engaging the community in giving second chances to ex-offenders and their families.
The Yellow Ribbon Prison Run started in 2009 as part of the YRP's drive to reach out to the wider community. Through the years, the strong support from both the public and private sectors garnered by the YRP's iconic Prison Run has raised awareness and acceptance towards the Yellow Ribbon Project and support for second chances through their participation in the run. These efforts have also galvanised the community to take action by donating to the funding of reintegration programmes for ex-offenders and their families.

Till today, the Yellow Ribbon Prison Run remains the only run where participants are granted unique access to run through the iconic old Changi Prison wall which is currently a preserved UNESCO heritage site and catch a rare glimpse of the Changi Prison Complex.

All proceeds will go towards aftercare support for ex-offenders and their families.

About the Charity

Every year, more than 9,000 ex-offenders complete their sentences and are released from the various prisons and drug rehabilitation centres (DRCs). It is disheartening that ex-offenders have to live with the stigma of having served time behind bars when they are released from prison, one that can often be more punishing than the prison sentence itself. Many ex-offenders, once released, find themselves literally stepping into a second prison. This time it would be a prison with invisible bars, of suspicion, of mistrust and of discrimination. The best rehabilitation regime during incarceration is of no use if ex-offenders find themselves rejected at every turn when they are released into the larger community.Your generous donation to the Yellow Ribbon Fund will go a long way to help us fund rehabilitative and aftercare programmes, which are the supporting mechanisms to facilitate the reintegration of an individual back to the community and his family.
