About Us
Methodist Welfare Services (MWS) is all about empowering people to have life to the full.
The people we serve may experience poverty in different ways - weak social support or fractured relationships, poor health, a sense of hopelessness, or a lack of means. We journey alongside them to uncover their inherent strengths, affirm them and support them holistically towards a better life.
Our island-wide suite of 22 centres and outreach programmes include casework, counselling and therapy; medical and rehabilitative care; home-based, community-based and residential care; a debt clearance and asset building scheme; and other services.
Founded in 1981, MWS is an Institution of a Public Character and a member of the National Council of Social Service. As a Christian non-profit organisation, we serve people across all ethnicities and religions. Today, we serve over 9,000 low-income and distressed families, disadvantaged children, at-risk youth, the chronically ill, frail and destitute, and the socially isolated.

Our Programmes
GIVING HOPE TO UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN
MWS' programmes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds are focused on providing them with resources to advance their academic potential, develop character and pick up life skills.
GIVING GRACE TO AT-RISK YOUTH
Youths who run afoul of the law are rehabilitated at our girls' hostel through a structured and meaningful learning journey with our professional counsellors and caseworkers.
GIVING STRENGTH TO FAMILIES IN DISTRESS
The road to healing for families in distress is a long and complicated one. Our social workers and counsellors journey with them through the multiple complex challenges that they face.
GIVING CARE TO THE CHRONICALLY ILL, FRAIL AND DESTITUTE
Our multi-disciplinary team provides intensive medical and therapy care for our beneficiaries who need help in activities of daily living. Palliative care is provided for critically ill patients, and ensuite care services help the frail in the familiar comfort of their own homes. MWS also runs two nursing homes for elderly sick from low income families and a home for the homeless.
GIVING WARMTH TO THE SOCIALLY ISOLATED
Seniors who do not have strong social networks are vulnerable to social isolation and depression. Our senior activity centres run meaningful and engaging programmes for seniors and helps to build a community among them.
We serve mainly vulnerable seniors from low to middle-income groups, aged 55 and above, of all races and religion.
