About Us

Annually, Life Community serves over 900 children and families from low-income and/or vulnerable backgrounds, such as parental incarceration, through five core programmes.

Our programmes focus on intervention work, including preventive, remedial and holistic development (character, moral values, social and emotional well-being) to reduce potential problems such as crime, drug abuse and poor academic, physical, social and mental health.

We have seen that challenging family situations such as financial challenges, parental incarceration and neglect, cause much emotional stress, trauma and wounds in their children. When a child experiences such stressors in the long run, their cognitive and emotional development are hindered.

They find it harder to develop essential traits such as resilience and grit, which are crucial to help them break out of their circumstances. This also sets them back earlier on in life.

Life Community intervenes to close these gaps, so no child or youth is left behind.

We aim to help them build strong foundations in their growing years and to reach their fullest potential, with resilience and purpose, later in life.

Our Programmes

Life Community has five core programmes, which has a focus on intervention work, care and mentoring.

1) Friends of Children and Youth helps children and youths, ages 7 to 19, with at least one parent presently or formerly incarcerated, through mentoring, case management, academic support, regular food ration, and character building & life skills workshop and activities. Through these, we aim to help them rise above their existing circumstances, build strong foundations and be equipped to enter the next phase of their lives.

2) MightyKids, Families and Community is a drop-in activity centre for children and youths ages 6-19, who have low-social support, are disengaged, and at risk, around Telok Blangah Estate. We provide mentoring, meals, interest-based activities and workshops to build character, competency and connections.

3) EduGrow for Brighter Tomorrows aims to strengthen the social mobility of children from low-income families in Marine Parade region. We focus on five areas: aspiration, character, education, financial values and relational skills, to help the child reach his/her fullest potential. This is a joint project with The Hut Limited.

4) Life Student Care provides quality student care services in a safe and caring environment. Our curriculum
emphasizes on the Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative, Emotional and Spiritual (Moral) aspects of well-being.

5) Friends2Gather aims to cultivate positive learning experiences by fostering mentoring relationships
