About Us

Cat Welfare Society is a charity that advocates the harmonious co-existence of humans and cats. We are at the forefront of humane management of the community cat population and educating the importance of responsible cat ownership.

For years, we have campaigned against the destruction of cats by offering a more effective and long term solution - education and sterilisation. As a charity, we function as a network of three staff, ten board members, twenty core volunteers and countless dedicated caregivers, rescuers, fosters and rehomers who work towards the same goal.

We are heavily reliant on donations to continue our work. We are a registered charity with IPC status that is audited annually and we publish our financial reports on our website.

Our Programmes

Over the years, we have introduced a range of community programmes that encourage responsible cat ownership and promote sterilisation over destruction. Our advocacy and work has led to a series of meaningful government and community partnerships that have been critical to changing how society approaches cat issues. Some of them are:

*Love Cats, Cats Ownership Programme (with MND, Nee Soon Town Council, AVS and HDB)

*Responsible Feeding Programme (with NParks)

*Community Outreach to help Disadvantaged Families with Pets (with HDB and Town Councils)

*Stray Cat Sterilisation Programme (with AVS and Town Councils)

*Humane Case Handling Programme (with AVS , HDB and Town Councils)

The benefits of these programmes are not confined to a sharp reduction in the number of cats culled every year, but its impact on people. These are:

*Educating people to respect the weak and helpless who form part of the community

*Encouraging the spirit of volunteerism among Singaporeans
