About Us

EDIS Cares aims to create opportunities for underprivileged children to reach their full potential. We develop and co-run programmes with community partners targeted at children from families with income levels at the bottom 20%. As EDIS' CSR arm, EDIS Cares leverages on EDIS' corporate networks and resources to help these children. EDIS Cares' programmes address key needs at critical stages of a child's growing years. Unlike other CSR efforts, we actively engage volunteers outside of EDIS to personally make a difference. Since 2014, we have worked through 140 volunteers and 17 corporate partners to support over 200 children through our three programmes.

Our Programmes

1) Our MILK & DIAPERS programme aims to provide the critical nutrition and care needed by infants and children up to 4 years old. We work with social workers to identify and monitor families that need such support. To break the cycle of sub-optimal nutrition that is prevalent in lower-income groups, caregivers are educated on how to provide the best nutrition for their families even on a tight budget.

2) The EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMME is a literacy and numeracy intervention programme for 6-year olds that have not yet attained the ability levels for their age group. Chartered buses ferry the children to and fro the Saturday lessons. Volunteers are trained to teach the children on a maximum 1 : 2 basis using our in-house curriculum. The children's progress is monitored through baseline, mid-term and year-end tests, and specialist evaluations are arranged for children who show signs of learning difficulties.

3) iSHINE is a thematic, hands-on exploratory learning programme that takes primary school children beyond their school curriculum. Volunteers journey with the children through-out the year-long programme's various themes, spotting talents and newly-sparked interest. In doing so, we raise the children's confidence and encourage higher aspirations. iShine children have worked with architects to "Design a City", experienced "A Day in the Life of a Scientist" with researchers, and gained life skills in "Junior Masterchef".
