About the Activity

Under the HDB's Remaking of Our Heartlands (ROH) programme, 3,480 households living in 31 blocks along Tanglin Halt Road and Commonwealth Drive are selected for Singapore's largest Selective Enbloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS).

For many of Tanglin Halt's decades-long residents, relocation is a jarring and jittery experience.

We are offering a befriending, letter-reading and relocation programme to assist elderly residents relocate to Dawson and ease them in their new neighbourhood.

Volunteer Positions

Ah Boy and Ah Girl (Befriender)

Skills required: Counselling & Mentoring, Other Skills, No Specific Skills Required Suitable for: Open to All Min. age: 18
Ah Boys/Ah Girls will be helping us in:
(1) Assisting the low-income, elderly and underprivileged segment of the community in Tanglin Halt relocate to the new homes in Dawson
(2) Ensuring the psychological well-being of the residents through our befriending and counselling programmes.
(3) Connecting residents with government agencies/help groups and crowd-pool resources for the relocation
(4) Easing elderly residents in their new neighbourhood

Movers & Packers

Skills required: Other Skills, No Specific Skills Required Suitable for: Open to All Min. age: 18
Packers will be helping us in:

(1) Assisting the residents to pack and leave behind their unwanted items
(2) Assisting the residents to unpack and organise their new places in Dawson

Movers will be helping us in:
(1) Assisting the residents to pack their belongings and remove bulky items.
(2) Assisting the residents to move their belongings to their new places in Dawson.
