About the Activity

'Our Lives, Our Voices' (OLOV) is a self-advocacy programme jointly organized by MINDS & Down Syndrome Association (Singapore). OLOV empowers and develops youth and young adults (aged 16 and above) with intellectual & developmental disabilities to become self-advocates.

The project aims to:
- Support participants to express their feelings
- Empower participants to speak up for themselves and share their stories
- Educate participants about their rights & how to be a responsible citizen

Volunteer Positions

Co-facilitator

Skills required: No Specific Skills Required Suitable for: First Timers, Open to All Min. age: 18
- Volunteer(s) should have an interest in working alongside & empowering young persons with intellectual disabilities
- Skillsets in public speaking/art/speech & drama will be beneficial
- Commit to weekly sessions (either Mon/Thurs) for at least 6 months.

Current volunteering positions available:
Mondays: 4.30pm - 6pm
Thursdays: 6pm - 7.30pm

Role of co-facilitator:
- Co-plan session content for self-advocates with the main facilitator
- Co-facilitate sessions alongside main facilitator

Instructional Designer / Curriculum Development

Skills required: No Specific Skills Required Suitable for: Open to All
The volunteer will be supporting the development & design of the following resource tools.
1) Facilitator Guide
2) Learner Guide
3) Booklet for Social Service Organisations
4) Learner Workbook
5) Development of Training materials

- Knowledge & skills in Graphic Design & Illustration will be preferred.
