Giles 87km Comrades Marathon
About Campaignends 07 Jun 2017, 11:59 PM
Hello, my name is Giles.
I am running the Comrades Marathon, which is an uphill 87km race between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in South Africa on Sunday, 4 June 2017.
I am currently an executive committee member for the Singapore Eye Foundation which supports and promotes activities relating to the prevention of blindness and the early detection and treatment of eye diseases for those in need of help. I would like to use the Comrades run (which is a self-sponsored race) to create awareness of the causes of blindness in Singapore and fundraise for needy patients who suffer from these eye conditions and are in need of access to care.
I am married with two beautiful young daughters and have in total lived in Singapore for 8 years. Running has always been a passion of mine and I've completed a number of ultra-endurance marathons including the Marathon Des Sable, a 254km race across the Sahara Desert. I have been training for this event for the last 8 months, peaking at 14 hours of training per week with too many 5am starts to remember.
Please share this good cause with your friends and family. Your generosity will go a long way to help benefit these needy patients.
To follow my race progress on the Comrades Marathon 2017 on 4 June 2017(11.30am Singapore time)
To help needy patients suffering from blindness, provide corneas for those who desperately need corneal transplants and to help researchers find better ways to treat major blinding diseases.
