In 2019, our collaboration with The Lien Centre for Social Innovation of Singapore Management University, undertakes a first-of-its-kind in depth food insecurity research project over the next 20 months.
Using both quantitative and qualitative analyses, the wide-ranging research aims to understand the underlying causes of food insecurity, its consequences and impact on the individual, household spending and dietary habits; and type of support the food insecure group is currently receiving.
The conclusions and implications will significantly impact how charities can remodel themselves to provide optimum levels of resources to assist food insecure families and individuals in Singapore.
Support our mission to bring this issue to light and also to bring an end to Food Insecurity in Singapore!
About the Charity
The Food Bank Singapore acquires donated food from farms, manufacturers, distributors, retail stores, consumers, and other sources, and makes it available to those in need through a network of member beneficiaries.
The Food Bank Singapore was set up by Nichol and Nicholas Ng, a pair of siblings running a food distribution business, FoodXervices Inc Pte Ltd. After observing the food industry for more than a decade, they realised the need for a food bank in Singapore. Founded in 2012, we were given charity status in 2012 and IPC status in 2015.
Our mission is TO END FOOD INSECURITY IN ALL FORMS in Singapore.
We now have a total of 360 member beneficiaries that includes:
Family service centres (FSCs)
Various types of homes
Other voluntary welfare organizations (VWOs)
