Samba Masala Christmas Busking for the Bone Marrow Donor Programme
About Campaignends 26 Dec 2016, 11:59 PM
After the brief encounter with The Bone Marrow Donor Programme for their World Marrow Donor Day in September, Samba Masala is excited to be working with them again! This time, we have chosen BMDP as our beneficiary for our Christmas busking.
SMU Samba Masala is proud to be Singapore Management University's resident Afro-Brazilian percussion group and one of Singapore's few samba percussion groups. Known for our unparalleled style, distinct showmanship and adrenaline-pumping live performances, we serve to liven up any event, ranging from street buskings, event openings and corporate gigs.
The Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP) manages Singapore's only register of volunteer bone marrow donors. For the past 20 years, BMDP has been providing that one chance of survival to hundreds of patients suffering from terminal blood-related diseases. When their only chance of survival is to have a bone marrow transplant and they have no matching siblings who can donate healthy blood stem cells, they come to us. With just a one in 20,000 chance of finding a matching donor, BMDP is absolutely committed to building the local donor register into a true national asset able to help all Singaporeans have that second chance; A Donor for every Patient is what we aim for.
