The Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP) manages Singapore's only register of volunteer bone marrow donors. For the past 20 years, BMDP has been providing that one chance of survival to hundreds of patients suffering from terminal blood-related diseases. When their only chance of survival is to have a bone marrow transplant and they have no matching siblings who can donate healthy blood stem cells, they come to us. With just a one in 20,000 chance of finding a matching donor, BMDP is absolutely committed to building the local donor register into a true national asset able to help all Singaporeans have that second chance; A Donor for every Patient is what we aim for. Every year, thousands are diagnosed with blood diseases such as Leukaemia, and many of them die without a suitable stem cell transplant. Here's how YOU can help: Sign up - If you are between 17 and 49, join the register! All it takes is a simple two-minute cheek swab and a commitment to make that life-saving donation should you be found as a match. We need $3 million each year to run the programme and fund life-saving transplants for needy patients. BMDP pays $150 for each swab kit that we sent to the lab for processing and uploading of the HLA makers onto the registry. You can help us by sponsoring your own swab kit!
