About Us

TENG is a leading not-for-profit Singaporean arts company that re-imagines the possibilities of Chinese music. Founded in 2005, the company comprises a collective of music educators, scholars and award-winning instrumentalists. TENG's work draws its influence from the East and the West; and the traditional and the contemporary.

Presently, TENG comprises the Performance, Academy and Research divisions. Through its body of work, TENG endeavours to be an inspirational contributor to Singapore's contemporary-ethnic music scene while empowering the lives of others with its music projects.

Every individual contribution, big or small, is vital to us. When you donate to TENG, you are helping us to
further our cause in creating cutting edge Singaporean work, cultivate underserved adolescents in realising their passion for music, and enliven our beneficiaries in need of comfort. It is a journey that involves colossal support to fund our programmes, and we would like you to join us in making an impact in the lives of others.

Our Programmes

Comprising two performing groups, The TENG Ensemble and TENG Gives Back, our performance groups are a combination of the Eastern and Western, as well as traditional and contemporary.

The TENG Ensemble is a critically acclaimed Singaporean Chinese fusion music group that takes inspiration from Singapore's heritage and multicultural roots to develop a distinct Singaporean sound, and have since brought our music to cities such as Melbourne, Shanghai, Seoul, Manila, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

Through TENG Gives Back, we reach out to the communities in hospices, nursing homes and dialysis centres across Singapore, bringing joy and emotional healing to those who are ill and in need of comfort. In collaboration with music therapists, we meticulously curate refreshing, accessible renditions of evergreen tunes that are suitable for our beneficiaries. To date, the TENG Gives Back programme has reached over 1,400 residents, chronically or terminally ill patients, and caregivers.

The Mapletree-TENG Academy Scholarship is a holistic programme that covers a rigorous training scheme of constant assessments and individual lessons with professional instructors from The TENG Academy. By covering the full tuition fees of instrumental lessons, grading examinations and course materials, it aims to nurture a generation of Chinese musicians in Singapore who will contribute back to society with the skills they have attained from this programme.
