/A BIG THANK YOU to all donors who enabled us to hit our targeted $100K! To complete the project, we still need $5 million more. Do kindly continue to spread the word and support./

We are a team of eight residents, aged 66 to 90, from St. John's Home For Elderly Persons which is located at 69 Wan Tho Ave. We took up the challenge of helping our Home raise $100,000, as part of the funds to build our new Home.

Though not savvy in digital media, we shot this video entirely on our own using mobile phone! Please take 3 minutes to check out the video and support our effort to raise funds for our new Home by donating generously.

Our Home needs to raise about a total of another $5 Million for our new building project!

(St John's Home for Elderly Persons has occupied 69 Wan Tho Avenue since the beginning. The lease on the land expired on 31 Dec 2015. We are very grateful to be able to secure a fresh 30-year lease beginning on 1 January 2016 for 3,300sqm, a part of the 12,000sqm of land we have long occupied.
Thanks to the support of many well wishers, we are on our way to building a new Home to care for existing and new residents. We will have the Groundbreaking Ceremony on 1 Sep 2018 and our new Home is slated to be ready by end 2020).

About the Charity

A Shelter for needy elderly persons.

Established in Dec. 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60.

Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them.
The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed.

We are not a government-subvented Home and depend largely on the public's generosity to enable us to continue our work as a Registered Charity.

Since the Home started operations in December 1958, we have been located at our present site at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In 2015, the Government granted us a fresh 30-year lease on a reduced land area. Concurrently, we also entered into a three-plus-three year tenancy agreement on the land that we are currently occupying.

We are now building a new five-storey building on the 30-year lease land to maximise on the plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. When we move into the new building, we shall increase our licensed capacity to 150. Construction began in Nov 2018, with target completion in Mar 2021.

We appeal for your support of building a new Home, so our elderly residents will not be displaced. Please donate generously. Thank you.

The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014, the Charity Transparency Award 2019, 2018, Community in Bloom Award 2018, 2016, 2014.
