About Campaign

Our elderly residents on the Public Assistance (PA) scheme appeal for your support. This campaign is supported by Tote Board. Your donations are multiplied!*

About 30% of our residents are under the PA Scheme. The PA funds are disbursed monthly to our Home to defray the costs of providing for these residents. It takes about $1,500 to provide for one resident, and with the PA fund of $600 per month, per resident, there is a monthly shortfall of $900 per "PA" resident, or more than $200,000 per year.
"Pau for PA" is a campaign to raise funds for this shortfall. "Pau" is bun in Mandarin, a warm and comforting food to many of our elderly residents.
St. John's Home is a home to many elderly residents without any accommodation or a suitable accommodation, a basic need for a person.
We thank you for supporting our elderly residents.

About the Charity

A Shelter for needy elderly persons.

Established in Dec. 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60.

Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them.
The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed.

We are not a government-subvented Home and depend largely on the public's generosity to enable us to continue our work as a Registered Charity.

Since the Home started operations in December 1958, we have been located at our present site at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In 2015, the Government granted us a fresh 30-year lease on a reduced land area. Concurrently, we also entered into a three-plus-three year tenancy agreement on the land that we are currently occupying.

We are now building a new five-storey building on the 30-year lease land to maximise on the plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. When we move into the new building, we shall increase our licensed capacity to 150. Construction began in Nov 2018, with target completion in Mar 2021.

We appeal for your support of building a new Home, so our elderly residents will not be displaced. Please donate generously. Thank you.

The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014, the Charity Transparency Award 2019, 2018, Community in Bloom Award 2018, 2016, 2014.
