About Campaign

Since the Home started operations 60 years ago, we have been located at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In December 2015, our land lease expired. Hence, in order for our elderly to have a Home, we must purchase a fresh 30-year lease from the Government.

With a smaller land area of 3,300sqm, we must construct a new five-storey building to maximise a plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. Construction began in November 2018, and targeted to complete by December 2020.

Our capacity will increase to 150 Residents in the new Home.

We are still short of $5 million to complete the project. As part of the Bicentennial Celebrations, the Singapore Government will grant dollar for dollar matching for donations raised by IPCs in between 1 April 2019 and 31 Mar 2020, up to a cap of $400,000 per IPC.

Please help us complete the new Home for our needy elderly! Please donate generously.

About the Charity

Established in December 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60. Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them. The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed. We are not a government-subvented Home and depend largely on the public's generosity to enable us to continue our work as a Registered Charity. Since the Home started operations in December 1958, we have been located at our present site at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In 2015, the Government granted us a fresh 30-year lease on a reduced land area of 3,300sqm. Concurrently, we also entered into a three-plus-three year tenancy agreement on the remaining 8,924sqm land area that we are currently occupying. We are presently constructing a new five-storey building on the 30-year lease land, to maximise on the plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. We began construction in November 2018 and when we move into the new building, we shall increase our licensed capacity to 150. We invite you to join us in this exciting journey of building a new Home for the Elderly, so that our Residents will not be displaced. The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014, and the Charity Transparency Award (2018). Website Link : www.stjohneldershome.org.sg
