About Campaignends 31 Dec 2018, 11:59 PM
Since we opened in December 1958, God has blessed us with indefatigable volunteers, generous donors, dedicated staff and visionary leaders.
God has blessed us especially bountifully in 2018. We are able to house within our Home every resident in the four dormitories being demolished for the new building, more volunteers and good results from our physiotherapy and counselling programmes.
The heartwarming effort of 8 residents aged between 66 and 91 who mastered smartphones to make a fundraising video (watch: https://www.giving.sg/StJohnsHomeSg/SeniorsOnline2018) attracted the attention of President Halimah Yacob, who graced the Home with a visit on 27th September 2018.
Groundbreaking for the new building was on 1st September. We expect it to be completed by Christmas 2020.
Thank you for your support over the years. We need your support to continue caring for and bringing smiles to our elderly. May we again ask for your support.
Everyone of us in St John's Home for Elderly Persons wishes you and your family Peace, Joy and Happiness!
About the Charity
Established in December 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60. Our mission is to provide shelter and care for the physical and spiritual needs of such elderly persons as have no home or suitable accommodation and no children or close relatives who have adequate facilities for looking after them. The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed. St John's Home for Elderly Persons is not a government-funded organisation. We depend on the generosity of the public to continue our works. Due to urban planning and the need to maximise land use, the Home is raising funds to construct a five-storey building, on one third of our existing land area. The estimated construction cost of the new building is $15 million. We invite you to join us in this exciting new journey of building a new Home for the Elderly, so that our elderly residents will not be displaced when our land tenancy expires. The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014 (Non-profit). Website Link : www.stjohneldershome.org.sg
