About Campaign

At St. John's Home, we strive to be a place where ageing is celebrated - that even though the elderly are placed in institutional care, they can spend their golden years in comfort, grace and dignity.

We provide accommodation, meals, laundry service, physiotherapy exercises, counselling service and basic medical care to our elderly residents.

Our volunteers provide spiritual nourishment and an active programme of social and recreational activities. Improvement in the quality of their lives is seen by their high attendance at social activities, the realisation of physiotherapy goals, and the change in their outlook after counselling.

About the Charity

Established in December 1958, St. John's Home for Elderly Persons is a Sheltered Home for elderly persons who are ambulant and aged above 60. Our Mission is to provide shelter and care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of elderly persons who have no home and no children or close relatives with adequate resources to care for them. The Home is open to all regardless of race or creed. We are not a government-subvented Home and depend largely on the public's generosity to enable us to continue our work as a Registered Charity. Since the Home started operations in December 1958, we have been located at our present site at 69 Wan Tho Avenue. In 2015, the Government granted us a fresh 30-year lease on a reduced land area of 3,300sqm. Concurrently, we also entered into a three-plus-three year tenancy agreement on the remaining 8,924sqm land area that we are currently occupying. We are presently constructing a new five-storey building on the 30-year lease land, to maximise on the plot ratio of 1.4 prescribed for the land. We began construction in November 2018 and when we move into the new building, we shall increase our licensed capacity to 150. We invite you to join us in this exciting journey of building a new Home for the Elderly, so that our Residents will not be displaced. The Home is a recipient of the President's Award for Philanthropy 2014, and the Charity Transparency Award (2018). Website Link : www.stjohneldershome.org.sg
