About Campaign
ends 29 Sep 2021, 11:59 PMThe Singapore National Youth Orchestra(SNYO) nurtures top young musicians to continue building for Singapore a thriving cultural scene into the future.
For a young musician, the opportunity to play on near-professional quality instruments is a powerful transformative experience in their talent development.
SNYO provides loans of such instruments to members who otherwise would not have the means to further their progress. With SNYO's on-going careful use of grant funding, our current instruments are almost 40 years old, and it is time to refresh some of them.
We have recently received a generous and meaningful gift, a new bassoon, from Ms Vivien Goh, who was the youth orchestra's first Music Director. This gift was made in memory of her late sister, Mrs Patricia Wei, SNYO's first bassoon tutor. This was the first time we received a new bassoon in 18 years.
There are many other instruments that need a timely renewal and we hope you can lend a helping hand. Your donation will help build a SNYO general instrument purchase fund, to enable more talented youth to reach beyond their potential.
Your donation will make twice the difference with matching from the Cultural Matching Fund. Donations of $50 and above will enjoy 250% tax deduction for Singapore tax-payers. If you would like to donate an instrument instead, please contact the SNYO office: [email protected]
About the Charity
"The arts and culture are in integral part of Singapore which the country must continue to nurture because man does not live on bread alone." - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long.
We do wish for the finer things in life, to appreciate beauty and love, and something uplifting for the spirit. Our nation would not be complete without an appreciation of arts and culture, and without Singaporeans who create artistic and cultural works.
An arts charity, the Singapore Symphony Group (SSG) manages the country's flagship orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra comprises 90 full-time musicians that play a versatile repertoire of familiar favourites and exciting new works across over 60 concerts a year. The SSG also manages the Singapore Symphony Choruses, the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, the VCH presents chamber music series, the Singapore International Piano Festival and the biennial National Piano & Violin Competition.
While the SSG is supported partially by funding from the Singapore government, a significant part can only be unlocked as matching grants when we receive donations from the public.
If you have been moved by the powerful, enlivening sound of your national orchestra, please support us by making a donation.
For every dollar given, we receive another from the Cultural Matching Fund, making your donation twice as impactful.
