About Campaign
ends 19 Mar 2021, 11:59 PMFor 16 years, Ivan has been at home as no centre could take him in. Ivan needs help with going to the toilet and bathing, and needs to take frequent walks to calm him down. I was unable to work as I had to take care of him.
I am already in my 60s. My husband passed away when Ivan was very young. I worry for Ivan all the time & I want to always be with him. But taking care of him is not easy and my health is not so good now.
When SPD accepted Ivan to the Day Activity Centre, I was very happy. After 16 years at home, there is finally a place for him. He is engaged in meaningful activities that has increased his ability to engage in tasks, follow instructions and use common household equipment more appropriately which he couldn't do previously.
Thanks to the support of donors, SPD is also able to provide specialised transport service for Ivan & other adults with autism. Today, Ivan goes to SPD without me, in SPD's specially adapted vehicle with an accompanying van attendant so that I can have more time to rest.
I am very grateful that SPD accepted my son and teaches him. When I accompany my son to SPD, I can see SPD helping many other people with disabilities as well as their families too.
With your support & donation, they can continue to help more families like mine. Please make a donation today. Thank you!

About the Charity
SPD is a local charity set up in 1964 to help people with disabilities maximise their potential and be a part of mainstream society.
We are here to help children and youths with special needs reach for the stars and be the best that they can be through early intervention and educational support.
We strive to boost the self-reliance and mobility of persons with disabilities within the community, and we do so through therapy services, assistive technology and the support and encouragement of our care team.
Our day care programmes provide respite to families, making it possible for persons with disabilities to stay with their loved ones at home for as long as possible without having to resort to institutional care.
A strong advocate for inclusive employment, we train people with disabilities and work with them to seek suitable employment opportunities so that they can be financially independent and lead a full and engaged life.
After more than 50 years, we remain focused and committed to enabling people with disabilities.
