About Campaign

Happy Chinese New Year to you and your family! As we celebrate this festive occasion, let's multiply our blessings by playing a part to improve the lives of those who have to overcome challenges everyday just to be able to do the simple things.

Help us to raise the much-needed funds so that we can continue to support children with special needs like Rayyan, to play, live and learn with their peers and give them an early start for a brighter tomorrow.

Rayyan is five but he cannot do many things other children his age do. He has cerebral palsy and because of this, he cannot speak and has limited control of his limbs. He must also take medication every day for his muscles and seizures. Despite this, he has not let his condition deter him from learning and has responded positively in his early intervention journey at SPD.

Rayyan attends the SPD Building Bridges EIPIC Centre three times a week, with fees heavily subsidised. Since joining the programme in 2017, he has greatly improved in his gross motor skills. He is now able to stand with the support of leg braces and can use a buzzer to indicate 'yes' and 'no'. SPD has also helped Rayyan to get a wheelchair and is now applying for an assistive technology device to enable him to communicate better.

This Chinese New Year, we appeal to you to make a donation and make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities & their caregiver. Wishing you and your family, good health, much joy and every success in the new year.

About the Charity

SPD is a local charity set up in 1964 to help people with disabilities maximise their potential and be a part of mainstream society.

We are here to help children and youths with special needs reach for the stars and be the best that they can be through early intervention and educational support.

We strive to boost the self-reliance and mobility of persons with disabilities within the community, and we do so through therapy services, assistive technology and the support and encouragement of our care team.

Our day care programmes provide respite to families, making it possible for persons with disabilities to stay with their loved ones at home for as long as possible without having to resort to institutional care.

A strong advocate for inclusive employment, we train people with disabilities and work with them to seek suitable employment opportunities so that they can be financially independent and lead a full and engaged life.

After more than 50 years, we remain focused and committed to enabling people with disabilities.
