South Central Community Family Service Centre Limited (SCC) provides support to the low-income and vulnerable families in the community. While giving support to families who seek help in financial, social or relationship issues, we encourage community self-help and cooperation.
Community Engagement Focus Based on the belief that the community has assets, we see our role as an enabler, engaging the residents, members (beneficiaries) and community partners within the neighbourhood to support the lower-income families.
Our Community Platforms
a. Community Kitchen The Community Kitchen takes prime position at our centre where residents, volunteers and members gather to cook for community events and share culinary skills.
b. Community Garden Our garden is run by a group of community residents, assisted and supported by SCC. The gardeners are a cohesive group which meet regularly to discuss plans for the garden.
c. Request & Offer Board (R&O) d. Goodwill Store
Our R&O and Goodwill Store facilitates community self-help.
For R&O, requests are put-up up by families for items that they need (washing machine, mattress, sewing machine) while offers or pre-loved items came from those who wants to donate.
In our Goodwill Store, food, clothes, books, toys, and other pre-loved items are donated by the community who can share. These goodwill donations are given to the families in need to help them tide over difficult items.
e. Learning Kampung Learning Kampung provides a relaxed ambience where children come together to do their homework and learn arts under the guidance and motivation of volunteers. It also facilitates community bonding where youth, adults, and seniors learn English and cooking together.
