About Campaignends 29 Nov 2020, 11:59 PM
Update: The SPCA had received overwhelming responses for this programme and has to increase our fundraising goal in order to support over 450 caregivers and 1,500 animals for 3 to 4 months.
The Covid-19 crisis has affected many of us. Many caregivers are worried about their livelihoods and ability to continue caring for their pets and community animals. With income reduced, caregivers might face difficulties in purchasing pet food. No one should have to choose between food for themselves or food for the animals under their care.
In view of this, the SPCA rolled out a short-term 'Covid-19 Pet Food Support Programme' to help pet owners, community caregivers and individual rescuers who are struggling financially.
The SPCA has put in an initial $50,000 to kick-start this programme. We are supported by Kohepets (delivery of food), and Hill's and KC & Watson (providing us with dog and cat food at a low cost, helping us stretch our dollar).
Help us feed more needy animals by donating to this campaign!
Every dollar donated through this campaign will be used to purchase pet food for those in need, on top of the $50,000 SPCA has put in.
If you know of any animal caregivers who are in need of pet food during this challenging period, please ask them to fill in this form - bit.ly/spcafoodsupport
About the Charity
COVID-19 Update: Fundraising has become exceptionally difficult, with major events being cancelled and essential services still running 24/7. We are appealing for help for our needy animals to receive critical emergency care.
The SPCA is a registered non-profit animal welfare charity with IPC status, and our two main objectives are to promote kindness and prevent cruelty to animals.
The SPCA is not funded by the government. Relying mainly on kind donations from the public and fundraising to support the shelter and clinic, inspectorate work and animal rescue services, as well as other initiatives such as our foster care programme, sterilisation programme for community animals, and education and outreach efforts.
Over 100 animals are taken in by the Society every month. Most of these animals are abandoned, unwanted, abused, sick/injured or lost. Our officers have rescued numerous animals, like Gemma, Aiden and Cookie, across Singapore (see above video).
To carry out our animal welfare work, we require over S$3,000,000 annually.
You can make a difference to the animals.
Your kind donation will directly impact upon our operations in providing shelter, food, medical attention and love to the rescued animals that walk through our doors each day.
Your donations are eligible for 250% tax deduction.
