In response to the conflict, and rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) will be launching a public appeal to support the affected and vulnerable communities in the region.

This will include the US$100,000 seed money by the Singapore Government in response to the Society's relief efforts. Working closely with the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement Partners, the aid will be channeled towards emergency medical equipment and supplies, as well as food and non-food relief items that will be distributed in displaced shelters for the affected communities.

Mr Benjamin William, Secretary General and CEO of Singapore Red Cross, said, While the conflict is complex and protracted, the humanitarian situation has rapidly worsened since mid-April 2021 and has since recorded a significant number of fatalities and casualties. In addition to medical support, it is also critical that we provide food and non-food relief items for those displaced as a result of the conflict. SRC will continue to work closely with our Red Cross Red Crescent Movement partners and stand ready to assist further, if necessary.
