Producing opera productions is expensive and this year's Aida is no different. With a cast of close to 100 and almost 70 musicians from Singapore and beyond, we need your help to raise funds to minimise deficit as well as give our local artists opportunities to showcase their talent!

About the Charity

Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO) is the flagship company of western opera in Singapore, with the main objective of advocating, developing and nurturing the opera scene and talent in Singapore by presenting this artform on a different platforms that are accessible to everyone. Since its inaugural performance of Mozart's Die Zauberflote in 1991, SLO has been active in presenting memorable annual seasons of operas, concerts and musical events for the enjoyment of Singaporeans from all walks of life and to give fans opportunities to enjoy operas seldom performed in Asia-Pacific region. However, producing opera is an expensive undertaking. It is a complete and multi-faceted Performing Art as it incorporates and involves vocal art (singing), symphonic art (orchestra), dance, visual arts (sets), theatre (acting) and design (costumes and lighting). Hundreds of people are involved in an opera. Funding from the National Arts Council and box office receipts are insufficient to cover the costs of all of our performances as tickets are heavily subsidised to ensure that the average Singaporean can afford to pay for a ticket. Most of the costs have to be sourced from sponsorship and private donations from individuals and companies.

Fundraising can help to raise more and change more lives.
