Mr Johnson* used to be the sole breadwinner earning a gross income of about $1,500 per month as a security guard. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, he lost his job in February 2020. Since then, he has been struggling to support his family of seven, especially in meeting their basic needs such as food, milk and diapers. The family has resorted to eating one cooked meal a day.
His job search was affected as he was diagnosed with mental health issues. Mr Johnson is currently receiving treatment at the Institute of Mental Health.
Yishun Family Service @ Children's Society has been supporting the family by providing counselling support and food rations. Interim financial assistance was provided through our Casework Fund to support part of the family expenditure and the children's school expenses.

Donations raised from Virtual Flag Day will go towards our Casework Fund.
Any unused Casework Fund donations will be carried over to 2021 and beyond so that we can continue to extend a lifeline to as many families in need.
