Based around well-known opera tunes commonly heard in commercials, this year's free concert is themed "Opera in Commercials" and aims to dispel the misconception that opera music is inaccessible and in fact, the genre is more prevalent than one imagines.
As we enter into the 11th year of Opera in the Park, we would like to request for your support because despite our fundraising endeavours, and grants that we receive, funds are still insufficient to cover our expenses.
About the Charity
The Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO) is the flagship company of western opera in Singapore. As the longest established in this sector of the arts, we engage renowned international and local performers and musicians under our repertoire. We aim to promote and present Western operas and concerts not frequently performed in Asia-Pacific for communities from all walks of life in Singapore.
As a non-profit organisation, our mission is to stage operas and concerts for Singapore audiences to enjoy. We also encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to create music with us.
In line with fulfilling our role in the development of opera and music theatre in Singapore, SLO depends on grants and donations from the National Arts Council of Singapore, foundations, corporations, and individuals to fund our programmes and activities. Your donations play a crucial part in sustaining the national scape of opera production and appreciation, as well as the growth of SLO.
