"The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."

For me, the ultimate gift I received in my life was from my father. Without his sacrifices, I would not have made it to medical school or been able to look after patients who put their faith and trust in my colleagues and me to do our best.

SGH is a remarkable place to work in - we have a superb culture of coming together to care, people with incredible skills to make sure we strive for the best outcomes for our patients and infrastructure to aid us to put our patients at the hearts of all we do. However, I often witness the unseen struggles our patients face. We care for the sickest and they struggle when they are barely making ends meet. We cannot provide the best care possible if their struggles are ignored. So it is incredible when our patients can get relief from the SGH Needy Patients Fund. You see their darkness turn to light and caring for them becomes more effective. But the money has to come somewhere.

Let this 200th year anniversary of our great dame of healthcare in Singapore be a special one by gifting to the needy patients. Let this become the true meaning of our lives and a legacy for our children, our peers and Singapore to follow.

All eligible donations will enjoy a 250% tax deduction. The donation will be automatically included in the donor's IRAS tax assessment and receipt will be issued upon request. If you would like one, please email us at giftstosgh@sgh.com.sg
