About Campaign

We are swimming for osteoarthritis (OA) because it desperately needs a cure! Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis affecting 10% of the population. Knee OA is particularly common among Asian. The rates of OA increase sharply after the age of 50. The major risk factors are ageing, obesity and past injuries to the joints. With ageing population and increasing prevalence of obesity/overweight, we anticipate more people will suffer from OA. Patients with OA suffer from pain, disability and loss of independence.

Sadly, there is no effective treatment to slow down the disease. Drug discovery has been slow because the disease is complex and poorly understood. Investing in research to advance knowledge brings hope to drug discovery and better care to patients.

We would be most grateful if you could support our cause by making a donation. Net proceeds raised from this event will go towards the Reverie Rheumatology Research Fund (endowed) in support of research initiatives in five Rheumatological conditions - Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Systemic Sclerosis, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Spondyloarthritis. Funds raised will be used to expedite and fund novel research that will make an impact to patients' health.
