About Campaign

Over 600,000 people in Singapore have a Rheumatological disease and there are more than 30 Rheumatological diseases, many of which are complex autoimmune conditions. These diseases can affect major organs including the joints, brain, nerves, heart, blood vessels, lungs, kidneys and skin, causing serious complications which can be life-threatening.

Despite the scientific breakthroughs made in the past decades, little is known about the exact causes of Rheumatological diseases. Diagnosis is difficult and as a result, often delayed. Treatment options are also limited for many of these diseases. In some cases, there are none - symptoms can only be managed.

Spurred on by what needs to be done for our patients, Reverie Rheumatology Research Fund (RRRF) was established in 2014 to support five key areas of Rheumatology research in Singapore General Hospital as an endowed gift to Medicine Academic Clinical Programme: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE); Systemic Sclerosis (SSc); Osteoarthritis (OA); Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA); Spondyloarthritis (SpA).

Funds raised will go to the RRRF (Endowed) to:
1) Expedite research into predicting diseases flares and progress;
2) Develop and test new treatments;
3) Build and sustain a core of trained and committed research support professionals;
4) Fund novel pilot research projects which, if successful, would provide the basis to apply for larger research grant funds to continue to continue this research.
