About the Charity
The SAWL Scholarship Fund was set up in 1987 to further the educational needs of needy students with physical disabilities who have displayed scholastic aptitude. In 2019, the Fund expanded its reach to include students with special needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder and intellectual disability.
The Fund disbursed about $107,900 in 2019 to about 64 students. Since the inception of the Fund, more than 900 students have benefited from over $900,000 of scholarships disbursed to Secondary Schools, Institute of Technical Education, Junior Colleges and Tertiary institutions.
The Fund continues to be well received by the community as there are almost no other scholarships available for these students which, unlike bursaries, also celebrates their academic achievements.
The Fund is a registered Charity in Singapore and has an Institution of Public Character status (IPC).
