Relay Majulah is a ground-up initiative to form a 200-runners team to conquer 2,000km over 200 hours (2-10 Nov 2019) to raise funds for President's Challenge and its 67 supported charities; and to commemorate Singapore's 200 years. It also aims to unite the community, for the community; and tell the inspiring stories of people with indomitable spirit, who live life to the full and live life without limits.
In 2005, when my children were 8 and 3 years old, my marriage started crumbling again. But this time, I was not pregnant. So I signed up for my first 10km run and started training alone for it. Surprisingly, the training process provided me with that much-needed anchor which empowered me to press on with life. I could not single-handedly improve my marriage, but I could improve my run!
Ever since then, running has been a part of my life while I juggle the responsibilities of making a living for my family and raising my children to have the right values.
I may have had it rough. But since the beginning, I have never forgotten that many people are less fortunate than me and have it worse. Thus, when a friend suggested that I participate in Relay Majulah, I said 'yes', knowing that I would be contributing to help others.
So here I am. For the less fortunate out there, will you forgo one coffee/bubble tea/beer/wine and donate the cost? Let's do this together and change the world for someone today. - WanderWoman Diana
