Tan Chuan-Jin is the 10th Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore. He had previously served in the Cabinet as the Minister for Manpower and the Minister for Social and Family Development. He is also presently President of the Singapore National Olympic Council.

'I believe that it is in giving that we receive. As we receive, we change. As we change, we become better people. As more people change, society changes along with them. This is how we build a better Singapore.

I have been running shorter distances in the recent year so I'd have to train up for this. But I'm inspired by the stories of the other runners and if they can do it, there is no reason for me not to step up to the challenge as well.

This relay is especially meaningful because we are all running at our own pace. The faster runners will help make up time for those of us who are slower. But because we are doing this together, we can achieve this remarkable outcome. This is how our nation has come this far and how we will go further - by walking and running our journeys together!

I also hope that through Relay Majulah, we can raise awareness of the causes we are supporting and to encourage others to also play a part in outreaching to those who need help. It always makes a difference.'
