Relay Majulah is a ground-up initiative to form a 200-runners team to conquer 2,000km over 200 hours (2-10 Nov 2019) to raise funds for President's Challenge and its 67 supported charities; and to commemorate Singapore's 200 years.
I am a senior manager in National Kidney Foundation and I develop rehabilitative programs to help kidney patients cope and lead meaningful lives. Being diagnosed with kidney failure and having to start dialysis at 28, I felt the world crashing down on me. I lost my life's purpose as I thought I would have a short life span. I was married with a very young child then. Not wanting my family to spiral into the depths of pain and misery and to leave a legacy for my son, I decided to fight on. It is with sheer determination and a spirit of positivity that I have beaten the odds. I am able to lead a near normal life despite my 25 years of thrice weekly dialysis and a weakening of a cardiac condition.
Through my participation in Relay Majulah, I want to convey a message of hope to our fellowmen. Sometimes, life can inflict us with pain and suffering, but we can always rise above adversities. Join me and journey alongside me in championing change in our country, our homeland. - Job Loei.
To note : As Job is currently hospitalised, fellow colleague from NKF, Desmond Ang will run on his behalf.
