About Campaignends 31 Dec 2019, 11:59 PM
Relay Majulah is a ground-up initiative to form a 200-runners team to conquer 2,000km over 200 hours (2-10 Nov 2019) to raise funds for President's Challenge and its 67 supported charities; and to commemorate Singapore's 200 years. It also aims to unite the community, for the community; and tell the inspiring stories of people with indomitable spirit, who live life to the full and live life without limits.
When we were given the opportunity to join Relay Majulah, my 11-year-old son, Ethan immediately agreed to take up the challenge. Ethan's best friend, Matthew was born prematurely and diagnosed with hearing loss at 3 months old. At 11 months, he had to undergo a 6-hour surgery to be fitted with bilateral cochlear implants which sends electric signals to the brain. Matthew could hear for his first time when he turned 1. After 6 years of training to decipher the signals, Matthew is in a mainstream school and happy to have forged many meaningful friendships.
Through Relay Majulah and together with Matthew, we hope to create awareness for children born with similar conditions so that they can lead a meaningful life. We are looking forward to spending hours training together for this wonderful cause. Ethan's best friend Matthew, who was born with hearing loss, will also be running the last kilometre with us. Just as our friends with disabilities have shown us the way to brave & conquer all odds, we will endeavor to complete our mission, for a good cause.
