As we dedicate 2021 as the Year of Celebrating SG Women, let's empower and uplift those who might be facing difficulties in achieving their fullest potential and help pave a way to a better future for them.

Norshimah Bte Yusof has been struggling with anxiety and panic attacks since 2019. Due to her condition, she is left unemployed, leaving her husband as the sole breadwinner of the family of 6 children, ages between 2 to 12 years old. With the help and support from the staff and friends at Filos Community Services, Norshimah is able to find respite from her daily routines through the Filos Mother's Support Group sessions.

Sandra Aulia, a survivor of 9 years of Domestic Violence Abuse (DVA), strongly advocates for bystanders to be proactive in interrupting the cycle of violence against women. After a traumatising incident, Sandra managed to seek help from the Centre for Promoting Alternatives to Violence (PAVe). Through United Women Singapore (UWS) - GenSafe Workplaces programme, Sandra was given a platform to break her silence and advocate for the importance of organisations and workplaces supporting employees who are survivors of domestic violence.

President's Challenge supports women like Norshimah and Sandra, to empower and inspire women to find their strength. Let's Celebrate SG Women and show our support for those who have not let their circumstances define them.

In 2012, under the leadership of former President Tony Tan Keng Yam, the Challenge was expanded to go beyond fundraising by including volunteerism and social

In 2018, President Halimah Yacob announced a $10 million fund (Empowering For Life Fund) which will empower vulnerable groups through skills upgrading, capacity-building and employment.
