About Relay Majulah
A ground-up initiative to form a 200-runners team to conquer 2,000km over 200 hours (2-10 Nov 2019) to raise funds for President's Challenge and its 67 supported charities; and to commemorate Singapore's 200 years. It also aims to unite the community, for the community; and tell the inspiring stories of people with indomitable spirit, who live life without limits.

Gan Kok Boon is a Managing Director with Accenture Singapore (Health and Public Services). He is a cancer survivor, having been diagnosed with Stage 3 Nasopharyngeal Cancer (NPC) in 2014 at the age of 35. The cancer "experience" changed his fundamental outlook in life, and he is more deliberate in living the life he wants. He now enjoys going for slow jogs, cycling and fishing off Singapore waters.

I am still suffering from the long-term side effects of cancer treatments - my salivary glands are damaged so I wake up every day with my tongue stuck to the palette due to the lack of saliva. My speech is impacted due to nerve damage and I am on lifetime medication. Yet, I feel so blessed being able to survive and to live this life. I am motivated to take part in this relay to encourage cancer survivors to press on. The survival journey is lifelong but this journey we have left is not just about overcoming the disease. Let's be bold, make a change, do something you are happy about, do something meaningful. Let's make our lives count for ourselves, and if you can, for others too.

In 2012, under the leadership of former President Tony Tan Keng Yam, the Challenge was expanded to go beyond fundraising by including volunteerism and social

In 2018, President Halimah Yacob announced a $10 million fund (Empowering For Life Fund) which will empower vulnerable groups through skills upgrading, capacity-building and employment. Visit http://www.pc.org.sg/WhoWeSupport to find out about the benefiting organisations supported by President's Challenge this year. 100% of the donations received go towards the charities we support.
