More about ECAT:
In 2017, PCS embarked on a pilot project 'A Transdisciplinary Approach to training Teacher Childcare Aides', together with Grace Orchard School. The team trained three students from GOS to work as Teacher Childcare Aides (TCCA), as part of the school's vocational training. The aim of the project is to create opportunities and partnerships that can benefit persons with learning disabilities to contribute and become valuable members of the workforce. This project has won the MOE-NCSS Innovation Award at the SPED Conference in November 2018.
The Educarer Aide Training (ECAT) programme was first offered in Feb 2020 as a scaled-up version of the TCCA project, for Post-18 girls. ECAT was acknowledged for advancing the possibility of employment for young persons with disabilities through the 5th Enabling Employers Award (Innovation Category) in July 2019.
Our first and second batch of ECAT trainees graduated in December 2020 and November 2021 respectively, while the third intake of trainees has begun.
