About Campaign

More than 200 million people around the world, disproportionately youth, are unemployed. Getting a steady job that pays a regular salary is no easy feat for Cambodian youths working in the informal sector. Many poor rural youths desire to work in the cities to break the cycle of generational poverty. However, they face financial and educational challenges as they are unable to pay for higher education and skills training classes.

OHF Skills programme equips young school leavers with the needed skills to get a white-collar job via Training Job Skills for the Service Sector (TJSSS)

TJSSS provides a 3-months and a 7-months residential training. Most of the students enrol in TJSSS without the ability to speak in English. By mid-course, they become competent in carrying conversations in English with foreign volunteers. The course also seeks to impart computer literacy, and they get to learn with varied software, from typing in Khmer and English, designing brochures with Photoshop, creating presentations using Microsoft applications, programming with coding, and more!

Pharly, a 17-year-old girl who desires to work in the hospitality, is one of 30 students in the TJSSS course. Both of her parents have passed away and she grew up in a children's home together with her younger sister. She attended TJSSS and was exposed to different skills. By obtaining important skills needed to succeed in a white-collar job, Pharly is a step closer to breaking out of the poverty cycle.
