About Campaign

Goat farming, being a low-budget investment, is a common and popular practice in Nepal, especially among the rural poor. However, there is a generally low success rate among the rural poor, all in spite of their diligent, backbreaking efforts. This is mainly attributed to their lack of knowledge in practices related to commercial goat farming, which include livestock diseases and treatments, food and nutrition for goats, breeding and sanitation. Consequently, most farmers struggle to generate a sustainable income from goat farming and continue to be trapped in the poverty cycle.

Suntali is a mother of 4 children and her husband works in the Nepal Police Force. He shows little to no support for his family, and never visits them. As such, the burdens of housework and childcare fall entirely on Suntali's shoulders.

Suntali was selected to participate in a goat farming training programme organised by Compassionate Hands for Nepal (CHFN), in partnership with OHF. In her own words, she had "received answers to all her queries as to why she was not successful in goat farming in the past. Now, she feels quite confident to implement all that she has learned to do goat farming commercially in the coming future".

Now is your chance to make a difference in these villagers' lives.
