About Campaign
ends 30 Apr 2018, 11:59 PMDana Foglia, a veteran in the LA (United States) dance scene started a 3-month programme mentorship since 2013. Annually 25 dancers are selected via audition from all the around the world to participate in the programme.
Singaporean dancer Clarice Ng was part of the programme in 2013, Loy Xue Hui and Hu Peizhen were selected for the programme in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
All 3 dancers had experienced tremendous growth in their body awareness, dance technique and performance quality. Their growth was evident to both their local dance mentors and also their fans/students.
To contribute towards professional development for the urban dance sector in Singapore. O School had reached out to Dana to conduct a 3-week (24 September - 12 October 2018) programme in Singapore. An audition would be conducted and a total of 25 Singaporean dancers would be selected by Dana for the programme.
Contributions to this campaign would be used to offset a portion of the programme expenses ($20,000 in all) and in turn lower the price point for the development programme. We hope that most deserving dancers would be able to benefit from this programme, regardless of their financial abilities.
About the Charity
O School Ltd (IPC, Charity), a performing arts centre, was established as a social enterprise in 2006 with the support of the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports' (MCYS) ComCare Enterprise Fund.
In O School, we always believed that dance could be a livelihood for passionate souls in the community. In recent years, we have identified and developed many youth dance talents in the Singapore dance market, so as to build sustainable careers for these talents.
It goes without saying that our students have benefited tremendously through our events, so much so that some of them have even emerged as leaders of their dance communities, giving back to the local scene through none other than dance.
Till this day, O School continues to strive to provide more platforms and avenues for dancers to flaunt their skills, whilst earning an income for themselves.
