About Campaign

Following enthusiastic response from last year's 'Songs at Twilight', New Opera Singapore returns to the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage at the Botanic Gardens in May 2020 to present 'Songs at Twilight: Selections from Porgy and Bess' with the aim of reaching out to a general audience with familiar tunes from Gershwin's well-known opera. The performance will be interspersed between solo vocal items eg. Summertime; My Man's Gone Now, I Got Plenty of Nuttin'; It Ain't Necessarily So and I Loves You, Porgy and orchestral arrangements of other pieces from the same opera. This will allow a wide reach to both groups of people who may prefer vocal performances over instrumental, or vice versa. It is our aim to present a more casual, welcoming approach in order to draw the audience closer to the operatic art form, specifically contemporary opera.
