About Campaignends 30 Jun 2021, 11:59 PM
Digital divide refers to the growing gap between the underprivileged members of society, the poor, elderly, and disadvantaged segment of the society who do not have access to computers or the internet; and the larger majority of the population who have access.
At NHCS, we seek to bridge this digital gap via this project by not just providing the hardware but working with community volunteers and partner like Engineering Good to deliver digital literacy programme to low income and displaced individuals and families in a safe and conducive environment like Kampung Siglap.
We are grateful to JP Morgan for donating more than 100 laptops, 300 desktop computers and 600 monitor screens. The original hard disks have been removed for privacy and confidentiality reasons. The other essential computer peripherals are mouse, web-cameras and speakers for the donated PCs and Laptops.
Therefore, we are seeking donations for the purchase of over 400 harddisk and various computer peripherals.
About the Charity
New Hope Community Services (NHCS) was registered as a charity in 2004. Our sole motivation is the love of God and the conviction that His church must stay relevant to the needs of the community. We are concerned for those in need and we strive to reach out to them, regardless of their race or religion. We recognise that homelessness can strike in many ways. Our mission is to stand in the gap and provide a Shelter of Hope to these homeless Singaporeans and to empower them to alleviate and improve their situation. At New Hope Community Services, our goal goes beyond providing temporary shelter to those we serve; we want to infuse them with real hope to see their lives changed.
Our Mission: Restoring HOPE to displaced families and individuals.
