About Campaignends 30 Jun 2018, 11:59 PM
- Madam Zainon Arshad, 50
I had to both my legs amputated because of diabetes, a condition which led to me having kidney failure. Due to my poor health, I had to leave my job and also made it very difficult for me to look after my three sons - Hairul, 20: Huzairul,18; and Amirul,11.
Huzairul has cerebral palsy. He is unable to control his muscles and his condition is incurable. My husband is the sole breadwinner and we struggle to pay our children's school fees, household expenses and also the maid, which I need because I cannot bath Huzairul as I do not have both legs. To supplement by husband's income of $1,800 a month, I started a home bakery business selling curry puffs, cookies and cakes and also sell them online. The amount I earn may not be much, but it makes a big difference in helping the family get by.
I am especially relieved that I am being helped by the people who support NKF, otherwise I simply cannot afford the high cost of dialysis treatment. This Mother's Day, I thank all of them for giving me the strength and resilience to keep going so that I can see my three children make it in life.
Many other patients also need your support. As little as 10 cents a day, your monthly donation of $3 will make a big difference. To make a monthly donation, please visit: https://donorportalstg.nkfs.org/NKF/Donations/NAP2_OL.htm
