About Campaign

Nadhirah comes from a single-parent family with little to no supervision at home, as her mother worked late night shifts. She enrolled in CareNights in July 2017. Being an active girl who had difficulty focusing on completing tasks, she struggled with her studies and was failing all her subjects.

With patience and care, the staff and volunteers at CareNights guided Nadhirah through the programme. Since then, she has seen tremendous improvement in her social-emotional learning and academics. She came in 3rd in class for her 2018 Year End Examinations and immediately sent a photo of her results to us. She worked hard and did well for her PSLE last year. We are proud of Nadhirah.

CareNights is a free night care service for children from low-income families where their parents are unable to look after them at night because they need to work overtime, work night shifts, attend night classes/courses, in incarceration, or single parents who need respite. The children come to our centres from Monday to Friday, 6pm to 10pm. We provide them with dinner and structured activities to support their learning of skills and values.

Because it is a free programme, we need support. Your kind donation will go a long way to help us to help them. Thank you.

About the Charity

Morning Star Community Services is a registered charity and Institution of Public Character which aims to enrich and strengthen family relationships in Singapore. By empowering individuals and families, we strive to build vibrant communities that can make a difference to society.

In a world where challenges to harmonious family relationships are increasing in intensity, Morning Star Community Services also provides upstream, preventive and early intervention programmes, counselling services, and family life education workshops which are conducted regularly for the benefit of parents and their children.

We have two initiatives that serve the underprivileged and disadvantaged children - NOVA and CareNights.

NOVA is school-based (our centres are located in the schools) and reaches out to children who are not doing well in school. They tend to come from low-income and multi-stressed families.

CareNights is a free night care programme for children of families in need. The children come to our centres from 6pm to 10pm on weeknights because their parents are unable to look after them at night for various reasons. We provide dinner and structured activities to enhance the children's learning of skills and values.
