About Campaign

Many of the elderly that Montfort Care serves struggle to gain access to affordable, healthy meals; some of them stay alone or lack the mobility to cook for themselves, and often resort to eating cold, stale leftovers.

To address this pressing problem, as well as the social isolation that they may be experiencing, Montfort Care's GoodLife! Makan programme runs a community kitchen, an intergenerational cafe staffed by elderly baristas, as well as a range of engaging activities for the seniors. The centre not only offers a place for stay alone seniors to prepare, cook and share their meals with one another but more importantly, is a space for conversations, learning and companionship.

For the safety of our elderly during COVID-19, the community lunches are temporarily served in plastic containers in bento-style. However, to ensure sustainability and further improve the programme, we are proposing for the warm and delicious meals to be packed and distributed via 'tingkats' (reusable lunch boxes) with self-heating systems instead. These tingkats allow the elderly to warm their food whenever they want, which is healthier and more satisfying to consume.

With enough donations, the GoodLife! Makan team will be able to reach out to more elderly, purchase more reusable lunch boxes and fresh food, and ensure the continued delivery of healthy and nutritional meals.

Your generous support will go a long way in providing the tingkats or warm meals for our elderly.
