Kopi Kids for Children @ Yishun is a community-based pilot project reaching out to selected families at rental blocks to access food at nearby food outlets.

Target Kopi Kids: 9 to 12 years old from food-insecure families living in Yishun

How it works:
Our Kopi Kids will receive 3 sticker vouchers every week for 3 months, for meals valued at $5 each. These stickers can be presented at participating Yishun food stalls (e.g. hawker, bakery) for meal redemption.

The Kopi Kids will also be participating in 4 back-to-nature sessions at Ground-Up Initiative's Kampung Kampus on Saturdays to grow their own crops, learn about food source and further engage their community.

Benefits of Kopi Kids:
a. Choice - 3-5 participating food outlets to provide variety and choice.
b. Accessible & Fuss-free - Children simply present their sticker vouchers to redeem a meal at participating food outlets in the community.
c. Child-centric - Children are encouraged to play a part in the redemption process, showcasing their artistic skills through self-designed stickers that will be showcased on the Kopi Kids board at each participating food outlet.
d. Community-building - Members of the public are encouraged to pay-it-forward by sponsoring the meal of a child.
e. Social Inclusion - Being able to enjoy meals at various stalls and restaurants around their neighbourhood.

About the Charity

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS) is all about empowering people to have life to the full.

The people we serve may experience poverty in different ways - weak social support or fractured relationships, poor health, a sense of hopelessness, or a lack of means. We journey alongside them to uncover their inherent strengths, affirm them and support them holistically towards a better life.

Our island-wide suite of 22 centres and outreach programmes include casework, counselling and therapy; medical and rehabilitative care; home-based, community-based and residential care; a debt clearance and asset building scheme; and other services.

Founded in 1981, MWS is an Institution of a Public Character and a member of the National Council of Social Service. As a Christian non-profit organisation, we serve people across all ethnicities and religions. Today, we serve over 9,000 low-income and distressed families, disadvantaged children, at-risk youth, the chronically ill, frail and destitute, and the socially isolated.
